Link to an uploaded file

I need to share files as a resource for our community. Some of the files may be PDFs and others may be Word or Excel docs.  What URL would I use to link to these files?

Official response from Lilia Villa

Sue, you can upload the files under a page in your nation. Once uploaded, you can click on the files to get the link.

1. Go to the page you want to add the file under

2. Click on Files > and upload the pdf

3. If you click on the file that was just uploaded, you can get its link. For example, this link goes to the lincoln.pdf file I just uploaded.

Note: when uploading something like a Word document (.doc), you can right click and select "Copy Link" and you'll be able to grab a link to it. Documents like these cannot be rendered in your browser, unless you embed them with a Google doc or another document embed service. Its a link that goes straight to download.

Display a dynamic list - support community interaction

I can prepare a list and download it as .CSV, then post it as a static page.  But that really misses the point of NB doesn't it?

I think we could more fully support community development if folks could connect with others (in my case, farmers and customers) on the fly.. e.g. by NB or FB messaging, "will you have okra at the market this week?"   So to be able to see a dynamic list of members with similar interest would be a huge benefit.  To do that would need a live link to their profile from the page.

Essentially what I want to do is have a dynamic, opt-in directory of local food sources.

Duplicate records due to Sign in interface

I'm getting duplicates for new signups. It's the interface that's confusing to people.  What's happening is they are signing up and then when they come back to login, they are entering their email in the Signup box again.   The sign in verbiage is too small.  Need a solution right away please.  One way might be to search the DB for the email and inform member they are already a member and invite them to login in.

Another solution might be to increase the font size of the Sign in and perhaps change the wording to login.
I know I can customize the template but that's beyond my skill set and budget.  anyone else seeing this?
Thanks!

All offsite links built into NB should open in a new Tab

All offsite links built into NB should open in a new Tab please.  Example is the FB link in People's Public Profiles.  I can control it in the links I add, but the built-in ones need to be changed by NB.  Please. Thank you.

Sue, this seems more like a suggestion than a question. You can post feature suggestions here: http://nationbuilder.com/suggest

I made a page and restricted access to people of certain levels which was useful to me. I don’t know if this would help you Gavin. Problem was the page showed up in everyone’s supporter menu and, of course threw an error when unauthorized person clicked. Can it be fixed to not show up in menu if person’s level does not permit access?

I’d like to see an “Author” or “blogger” level between intern and leader. I need folks to be able to post blog entries but I don’t want them to be able to change page slugs and other factors affecting the design. Neither do I want them to send emails blasts but they can write them.

Agree with Ben – reaction from NB would be excellent on these key topics.

"Spread the Word" via email - make it easier for end users

For our community it would be easiest if the "Spread the Word" page included a link to email an invitation.  Many of our folks don't use social media but would be thrilled to share with their email lists.  Let's help them do that by providing a direct link or instructions for copying and pasting to email.

This is a definite requirement for us as well.

It’s critical on a community site that members be able to see who else is interested in similar ideas or projects. By displaying a list based on select criteria such as an interest in cooking or farming or a candidate, we facilitate people meeting and collaborating and therefore leveraging the community connection.
