Obstacles to signing up...

I really like what you're doing and the potential just about makes me giddy, but I'm an optimist on a budget.  I love the tiered pricing strategy that asks bigger nations to pay more.  It just seems fair.  I'm not sure I understand the $5 per month to use a URL I've already paid for and might wish to stick with for the long term.  Paying a one time fee to set things up makes sense, but what monthly costs are there in using 1rpm.com as opposed to 1rpm.nationbuilder.com?

Shopping psychology is strange, I know, but I'd feel fine expecting to pay thousands a month for a site that offers all that you do when it takes off.  To pay $9 every month and $5 every month, for each potential portal into a crazy idea that might change the world or might never attract more than a pubful of fans...

It might even make better marketing sense to charge $24 for a beginner site and let folks use their own url for "free".  Folks wouldn't feel upsold.  Most savvy shoppers hate being upsold.

If it were me, I'd help the little guy get into the game for as little as I possibly could.  Many more people would sign up, feel good about signing up, never have to deal with buyer's remorse and when the same percentage of that larger sample goes global, well, you get your fair share of a much larger and much more diverse melange of revenue streams.

I have tried to rationalize spending the extra monthly and putting all three of my sites on Nationbuilder, but the nickels and nines not only add up, they make me feel haggled.  taxsuffrage.nationbuilder.com is more to type than taxsuffrage.com, but we'll give it a try.
