Private blog/forum?

I'm wondering if it is possible to create a private blog or forum that would allow only certain individuals who are either tagged or given a certain permission level to see it?

Would it be possible to create a specific permission level that would allow you to assign that permission to people? Can you make it so that only people with a specific tag can view and post in a forum?

You can now restrict access to pages based on whether they are a member or not.

Is there a summary breakdown of the way to alter page “viewablity” by levels or member type, etc?

I agree, this would be a huge benefit to our nation as well. I’d even go so far as to be able to turn on levels like those in squidoo and have certain features unlock in the nation based on a members PC. IE access to a special, exclusive CEO’s Club blog, etc or even for donors who give more than 100k.

I think I totally figured this out. I’m have NOT tested it, but why wouldn’t it work?

You have your blog which you want to only be accessible to fun people. People tagged “fun” get to see it and if you’re not tagged fun you can’t.

Inside the blog_post template you put logic to the effect of:

If page.parent == “fun blog” {

{% if request.sorta_logged_in? and request.current_signup.tags contains “fun” }
They have the “fun” tag. It is safe to print {{ page.basic.content }}
{ endif %}

} else {

//act like normal
{{ page.basic.content }}

}

(The code here is fake – it only describes how you might achieve this)

Let’s say we want only people named Fred to have access to a blog we are calling the “Fred Forum” – can we mark all people named Fred as fundraisers and then make the Fred Forum only accessible to fundraisers?
