I'm comfortable editing _columns_2.html and _supporter_nav.html, but most clients aren't. (In fact, one missing div, and the whole site goes out of wack.) I realized yesterday that a simple enhancement would be to add a feature almost exactly like your supporter nav buttons. In fact, it could be a third and fourth button under "Supporter nav." One could be called Sidebar Text, and the other would be "Reorder Text" (which would simply control whether the text comes before or after the buttons). You've already got the three "huge" buttons in both _columns_2.html and _supporter_nav.html. If both files called {{ site.sidebar_text }} (according to sort order), it would  be a tremendous asset, and by my guess, simple to implement.
