I like having a right hand column with donate, email list signup, volunteer buttons, etc.-- but I'd rather do away entirely with a "supporter nav" bar that includes a username, pic, "Your Pages" link, etc.  As of now I'm aiming for a simple, functional, website with no comments or other interactive features.  I may choose in the future to integrate some of these features, but I'd like to do them one at a time, and on a case by case basis...

I guess another way to put it is that I'd like to either:

a) have the righthand column look identical whether someone is signed in or not

b)essentially opt out of "signing in" sitewide

Is there a simple, straight-ahead way to accomplish this?
