Effective October 12, 2017 — applications using NationBuilder's Contact API/Create endpoint no longer have to include type_id in the request to create a new contact.
type_id specifies the contact type assigned to the contact. The field is still writable but not required.
Note that if your application is using contact-to-path automation, sending contact type in the request is still necessary to trigger the path.
