multilingual nations

Any plans to adds tools that would allow Nations to be multiple language?

To have a nation display in both english and spanish we'd need not just a content mgmt tool for i18n, but also a way to create and organize templates into spanish and english, and a button to allow users to switch back and forth.

How about letting us record bilingual or trilingual people in the person record, rather than limiting the choice to only one language?

As a first step, it’d be great to allow for upload of i18n translation files. It would be a HUGE WIN for our site to even just have a translated sidebar.

Wow Gus’s suggestion would be huge! But initially, I’d settle for an internationalization scheme that lets you create copy snippets in multiple languages, and serve up the one that matches the visitor’s browser language setting.

I suppose Google Translate will have to do for now.

For me, two different sites is what I would like to avoid. I don’t want a Spanish site and an English site – I want tools to make one site multilingual.

With NationBuilder, I’m thinking of a campaign where I would have the appearance of two completely different sites for different languages, sharing a single voter file and database, but tagging every person with language as they opt in. That way we have a different incoming phone line and a different broadcaster for each language, a different volunteer page with individuals being assigned to different point persons, et cetera.
