Is there a way to set up a box or page that says "suggest us to your friends," in which our supporters will put in the email addresses of their friends. We would then follow up with an email, saying "You're friend, such and such, thought you would like our site. Let us know if you'd like to keep receiving emails from us."

There isn't a specific page for this but you could always use a feedback form and then create the profile from the feedback given.
You'd also want to be really careful about emailing people who have not opted in so I would make sure that they are one to one personal emails and not a blast email. As well as keeping them as 'prospects' until you are sure they want to be added to your email list.
