commented on New "upgrade" killing off the Developers?
Farz – This is still extremely unclear. You had promised an email with clarifications last week, which didn’t go out. How would the API be restricted from a technical standpoint? It doesn’t matter who is creating the application – if you’re exposing the API, that’s going to need to be in the Nation’s account… Whether the person creating the app is a developer or not doesn’t change how the org needs to expose the API to the app.

commented on NationBuilder's biggest upgrade ever
This “upgrade”, is, in fact, a huge downgrade for existing nations. You’re taking away the Developer API unless we go to >=$999/month?!? That’s a 34x increase in cost for features that were major decision makers in choosing NationBuilder in the first place. I feel that this upgrade, as it’s being presented, effectively turned NationBuilder from one of the premier options for non-profits into something that’s effectively useless to any but a large non-profit organization. Unfortunately, I think we’re going to be forced to find an alternative, just like Danny.

commented on Using the API from "pure" Javascript
Agreed – you’d have to have a way to restrict which portions of the API are available.

commented on Allow access to more than one page of people
This is actually critically important if you want to allow more advanced functionality to work, as well. There’s a lot that can’t be done without having access to more than 30 people at a time. Being able to retrieve all and filter in Liquid, for example, would be incredibly useful.

commented on DIrectory: make number of profiles to show configurable
This is related to – though potentially a more flexible alternative (provided you could set the limit very high if needed, and filter in Liquid)

commented on Do not require public profiles
Ian – Thanks for the link. I’d already seen that. It’s more than just public profiles, btw – you actually have to re-template the directory page itself. I’ve been working on using the API to just handle a directory separate from the directory pages, but I had already seen your link and had planned to do that in the interim.

commented on Subject line of auto-response emails

This is causing us a lot of grief, as the default email subject is really poorly written. It’d be nice functionality to be able to alter these.

commented on Allow "Search" query string
Freshhold – Thanks for the info – This sounds like an easy (sort of) way to hack around the issue. This is likely simpler than my current thoughts on an approach, at least.
