commented on Support for SSL certificates?
To make it perfectly clear I had to unblock Nationbuilder’s own domain from forced encryption (ie: HTTPS) to even respond to this comment. Whenever I visit a site I’ve created on here I am warned there is no certificate for that site. I am not the only one who is particularly careful about who I’m giving money to online. SSL certificates give a level of certainty that the payee is dealing with a more reputable person/organisation. I have migrated to a premium cPanel solution that is cheaper than even the basic level offered via NB, if someone doesn’t have the coding skills they can easily install something like Wordpress and a few plugins that track mailing lists and automated donations with ease via PHP, and/or an SQL implementation – with unlimited customisation, unrestrained by a proprietary platform. To be clear I am an IT admin for a political party in Australia that do use NB, as they are one of the major parties it is a joy to use with its full set of tools and options. However, as ‘pay your own’ grassroots local candidate we have to do it on our own when we put our hand up for candidacy. Once elected, this is no longer an issue as the party will pay your way. It’s getting there that is the problem.
