Better Mail Merge/Household Tools

I'm the Communications Director for a statewide nonprofit in NC that has over 30 local chapters. I think NationBuilder is a great fit for 80-90% of our local chapters, and I've been encouraging them to adopt it, and also building initial sites and backend databases for a few chapters.

The one thing that is consistently a problem is the lack of any household functionality. Its annoying for tracking fundraising, but then at least you can assign everyone at the same address to one fundraiser- very time consuming, but the end result is satisfactory enough.

Mail merges (for postal mailings) are a different animal all together. There is no good way of pulling together folks at the same address and merging their names in a way that makes sense for a mailing. All of our local chapters (which I believe fall into nationbuilder's sweet spot market) rely extensively on mailings.

Really there are three options, noe of them good:
1) Spend staff time with an exported contact list, finding entries that share an address and putting them together before you do a mail merge
2) Track people in Nationbuilder as couples/families- a really bad way of doing things ant not how NB was set up to function, or
3) Use some excel magic or a third party application- and I don't know enough about excel to fix the problem (and I'm not aware of a third party app that owuld help either )

Better geocode guessing

If you supply a street address, but no city, state, or zip, NB will guess the rest of the address. Mostly incorrectly, which makes sense given 1321 Maple exists in hundreds of towns. Better for it not to guess if not supplied with enough information than to guarantee inocrrect information in the database.

Broadcaster twitter followers not being made "Supporters"

When I linked my twitter account with my broadcaster account on hk.nationbuilder.com, I noticed it brought all of my followers in as "Supporters". Would it be possible to have these listed as "Prospects" or something else instead?

Browser storing credit card number

Is there any way to make it so that the browser doesn't store your credit card number in the field?

Official response from Jim Gilliam completed

I turned off autocomplete on donation forms. If you have a custom donation template, you will need to change "{% form_for donation %}" to "{% form_for donation autocomplete:off %}"  The default templates will do this automatically.

This will go live later tonight.

Calendar: change the number of events per page or sort via a different method e.g., alphabetically

On Calendar pages, it would be nice to be able to change the number of events per page or sort via a different method e.g., alphabetically.

Call Center/List

It would be great to allow volunteers to login and make phone calls from lists, with multiple people calling off the same list at the same time. Developing this internally would certainly be non trivail.

Callfire.com is a system that has already been done correctly, and they have an API. Here is a link to their API info, http://www.callfire.com/dialer/cm/custom_telephony.html

Call View RSVP and Logged Info

Would be awesome if when logging calls you could log an RSVP and the details in the 'logged call' tab at the same time- it only lets you select one or the other before the contact gets processed and chucked off the list

Call mode button on search results pages

It would be very convient to be able to go right into call mode from a search without having to create a new list first.

Can auto-responder preview be fixed?

Previewing (layout_autoresponse.html) always loads a site's home page for us -- can this be fixed?

Official response from Adriel Hampton considering

Ron, have you seen the new "report a problem" link in the control panel footer? Reporting your issue there will put it directly in the hands of our engineers for review (along with giving them additional bug troubleshooting info from the page and browser).

Canada eh!

You need to incorporate the Canadian constituencies and the polls.  Precincts?

Below is the link to my constituency and the polls.  I'd like to map walk routes for each polls, ideally on a ipad app that I could update as I door knock each residence.

I've uploaded all my election data 28k+, working on party data, and for the next 3.5 years would like to run this like a CRM until the election is called.

Candidate Canvasing

For candidate canvassing, a gps tool that matches TurfCut location info with the Voter File would be helpful to make real-time voter notes while mobile.  Record fresh info - discussions, follow-ups, and other remarks.
