Is there a way to get a list of all failed donations on a regular basis using a filter?

I cannot seem to find an option to choose all the donations that have been attempted but failed. This would be useful to follow up as a number are due to expired credit cards or various other issues.

You can view a summary of failed, cancelled, and abandoned donations from the Dashboard of your nation. Use the Activity type and date range options within your control panel to view a specific activity within a given time frame. You are not currently able to save these as filters, however you can bookmark the pages after narrowing to your desired activity type and date range.

    This is a really essential feature for organisations on small budgets that need to capitalise on potential donors. It’s really disappointing Nationbuilder haven’t thought of this. Currently, I can see hundreds of people in ‘activity’ but unless I manually copy and paste their names and create a list I have no way of contacting them to encourage them to donate.

    A few of the nations using Facturly were surprised with how difficult it can be to find, track and contact donors with failed payments so we built this into our app last year. Facturly is an app for NationBuilder that focus on streamlining tax receipts, but also allows nations to:

    - Receive alerts for failed payments
    - Automatically email onetime and recurring donors with failed payments

    In addition, we track and flag recurring donations that were scheduled to be processed but for some reason did not process in the current month. This generally catches donors that have cancelled a recurring payment in PayPal without informing the nation.

    The ‘Activity type’ / ‘donation problem’ summary in the Dashboard, only shows one time donations. As an alternative, you could filter for donors who have an active recurring donation, but haven’t had a donation processed in the last month —you can do this by using filtering criteria such as: ‘Recurring donation status’ is ‘active’ and ‘Date of most recent donation’ ‘is before or on’ (today’s date). That would filter for people who have an active recurring donation that hasn’t gone through for a set period of time.

    This is not detecting failed recurring payments. Is there another way to search for these. We keep discovering these by accident after we have lost months of payments. It is very frustrating.

    Hi Anne – unfortunately not quickly – you can add each person one by one to a list using the drop down on each activity.
