This project included moving 2500+ posts, radically redesigning the homepage, building a custom calendar widget, and in-person training for several staff members. We have also produced micro-sites, videos and strategic reports for this client.

This answer is perplexing. The same logic for not deleting the number exists for home phone as for mobile. Why not have a bad number box for each of the phone numbers?

To get around this in an instance where demanding people signing (for a survey asking students to talk about their experience with mental health issue while in school), we built a survey in Survey Monkey and embedded it into the site. Then we took any of the responses that volunteered contact information and imported them into the nation.

I know that building a community is the point of Nation Builder but there are some instances where demanding that people identify themselves is actually counter to building community.

commented on What's the best way to handle using NB while maintaining a seperate website?
Firstly, the notion of having a “Take Action!” micro site on a sub domain is an interesting one that I will take to the client.

I am still considering other options though. What do folks think of using iframes to embed NB components into the word press site. Seems like that could get complicated and uses outmoded technology.

And another alternative : what about using PHP’s cURL library to scrape content off the NB and present it on the word press site. That also seems complicated but given word press is built on php it might work the best?

I wish I could just convince them to move their net presence to NB since it feels like having a foot in both worlds is less than optimal.

Hi John,

If you go to Settings —> Snapshots, you can trigger a process that captures what your nation looks like at that time. And if you have trouble, you can roll back to that later.

You can also follow the instructions here:
http://nationbuilder.com/how_do_i_backup_my_nationbuilder_site
to grab a copy of your nation for backup outside of NationBuilder.

commented on How do you use non-blog post page types as sub-pages of a blog
Hi Lilia,

Thanks for your help. You provided what I needed.

I have now modified the template for the blog page type such that if the child page is a post it handles it like a post and if it’s something else (an event page or donation page) it presents the headline and excerpt. Not perfect but better than the previous behavior of just displaying the headline and nothing else.

I understand that the documentation can’t handle every possible scenario (no documentation can really) but I figured that’s what the support section is for? I still only see one reference to “page.children” in the documentation and it’s a four word sentence. Not exactly verbose.

But as I said, you gave me what I needed and it’s working now. Thank you.

commented on How to add question to the sign up form?
Thanks Lilia,

I eventually figured that out and have Employer (which on this site we’re using to hold people’s Union affiliation). I am wondering though, the other fields on the feedback form do not display if they already have a value for them.

That’s done using a test on a separate field that holds a boolean True/False depending on if data exists. Is there a way to make it such that Employer field only displays if it’s empty? Given there isn’t a boolean field for Employer, maybe by using a liquid filter or something?

And barring the ability to make the Employer field display only if it’s empty, is there a way to make it pre-populate with the Employer value?

I await your response. I had to send out the message last night even with this issue still there, but I’d like to know how to fix it for future messages.
