Grace period and other membership status settings don't retroactively update after the membership has been issued to the profile

We have received reports from our users that if a membership is applied to their profile and the grace period has been changed, the grace period time frame does not update on that profile. For example, I sign up and purchase a membership (while the membership type settings grace period is currently set to 7 days). Then, a control panel user extends the grace period to 30 days, that grace period isn't updated on my profile and my membership still has a grace period of only 7 days.
