If you go to Settings > Snapshots, you can trigger a process that captures what your nation looks like at that time. And if you have trouble, you can roll back to that later.
You can also follow the instructions here:
http://nationbuilder.com/how_do_i_backup_my_nationbuilder_site
to grab a copy of your nation for backup outside of NationBuilder.
