Recurring donation status remains "Active" after failed donations

We've confirmed this issue exists for recurring payments processed with Integrated Payments and with Authorize.net. The behavior is slightly different, so I've separated the issue description by payment processor below. The issue may exist with other payment processors that allow recurring donations as well. Integrated Payments: If a donor's recurring donation fails, their payment is automatically retired several times in the following week (which is great!). If no retries are successful within that week, no further payments are attempted. Despite no further recurring donations being processed, the donor’s recurring donation status remains “Active” in NationBuilder. Even if you manually try to “Cancel all future donations” to change that donor’s recurring donation status, it results in an error message. Authorize.net: If a donor’s recurring donation fails (aka a transaction is declined in Authorize.net), it does not automatically retry further payments. Despite no further recurring donations being processed, the donor’s recurring donation status remains “Active” in NationBuilder. Note that this is only what happens when a transaction is declined in Authorize.net. There is also another separate issue with recurring donations that receive a “General Error” in Authorize.net (i.e. when credit cards expire or information on them are no longer valid), which is described in further detail here: https://nationbuilder.com/abrahamhuie/authorize_net_general_errors_do_not_generate_error_activities_in_recurring_donations These issues make it incredibly difficult to manage recurring donations.
