commented on Save roles on a Volunteer Signup page with a dropdown list
We at NationBuilder have not tried to change the UI from checkbox to a drop-down list for volunteer roles.

In the interest of allowing people to offer all of their skills to your cause, we don’t think it is wise to limit a supporter to choosing one way of volunteering. For example, you can see how automated volunteer signup helped streamline Pivot Legal’s operations: http://nationbuilder.com/pivot_legal_says_nationbuilder_changed_everything

Eve, I updated the answer to the question to clarify that the limitation has been set by Facebook, not by NationBuilder.

Tim, can you clarify what you’re asking? The excerpt field exists for every page on your website, including blog posts. You can find it in Settings > Social media

commented on Email Supporters and Prospects
Carey, I updated the response on this feature request. I believe our disagreement is in our use of terms “supporter” and “prospect.” In a previous comment, you indicated that these types of people can be emailed together using MailChimp. Actually, MailChimp does not allow customers to email prospects, i.e. people who have not explicitly opted into receiving email. Additionally, we strongly recommend using the support level field to indicate support level rather than tags. We would also recommend using paths to indicate when you are engaging a campaign prospect with the goal of having a person take a particular action.

Here is the full update provided to the official response for other people following this suggestion:

Update 1/27/16: I believe the biggest reason we have disagreements about this is that some people assume the terms “supporter” and “prospect” refer to engagement in a particular campaign. These terms have very specific meanings within NationBuilder: has the person opted into receiving communication from you.

We expect that customers will use support level to indicate support, and that people who are neutral or have not yet actively participated in a campaign will be given support level 3. This support level is equivalent to a campaign prospect.

Most email marketing providers do not allow customers to email people who have not explicitly opted into receiving email. For example, MailChimp describes emailing prospects as the worst possible rookie mistake. People who have not opted into receiving email from you are less likely to open an email and they are more likely to mark your email as spam. In order to protect your sender reputation, we will never allow a single email blast to be sent to people who have not opted into emails along with subscribers.

Our expectation is that each nation will define a content strategy for engaging prospects. They will send a targeted email, inviting prospects to opt into receiving email and will clearly explain the subject and frequency of future communication. That opt-in email will include a link to a signup page that is designed for subscription management, where the prospect can choose to receive all types of email or select specific types. If a prospect does not respond to an opt-in email, the prospect will be marked as a non-supporter and stop receiving email from that nation.

Even reporters want the opportunity to choose whether to receive blast communication. If you are trying to get your organization covered by a particular publication or reporter, it is always better to send a one-to-one email, which can be done through NationBuilder.

The intention is for control panel users to actively manage prospects and work quickly to determine if they want to receive communication. If the person has opted into email communication and has taken no other action with your organization, please indicate this with support level 3 on their profile.

commented on Are there plans to integrate NationBuilder with Drupal?
Marty – just to clarify, you are able to create a visual calendar in a NationBuilder website using Liquid functionality. You are correct that it isn’t the standard format for displaying events in a NationBuilder site. You can also add your voice to this feature suggestion: http://nationbuilder.com/redtimmy/a_block_style_calendar_for_events Note that in the comments, there is a link to a NationBuilder Architect who is offering the feature, as well as information on our calendar API and events API.

Varun, I moved your question to our feature suggestion area because creating a blog post from the front end of your website does not include the ability to upload images. This way other members of the community can comment on the idea.

commented on Default From address when replying to incoming mails
Ben, I’ve asked Josh to followup with you directly about this issue. I know that when you hit reply, the default address wont be the person the email was sent to if the person logged into the control panel doesn’t have access to emailing as that broadcaster. Because of this, I haven’t been able to replicate the problem you’re encountering.
