You can customize the autoresponse email that goes out when somebody takes action on a particular page, including a sign up page, by going to 'Autoresponse' under the page's settings tab. This customization does allow certain variables that can be included to personalize the email. However, the process to activate an account is something built in to the system and can't be combined with an autoresponse to a particular page.
