I have (mostly) built the site I want, and the live site looks great when I'm logged in. However, I can only see a couple of the pages when I'm logged out. They are all published, according to my dashboard, and set so that anyone can see them. How do I make them actually appear to everyone?
(My hunch about the origin of this problem is that for several pages, I foolishly changed the status to "published" without clicking the orange Publish button - whoops.)
Update: changing these to drafted, saving, then clicking Publish has helped. Is there a smarter way to do this?
There are a couple of things to keep in mind in the Settings tab of a page on your website. First, you can change the status of the page from the drop-down menu. If you select "Published" as the status in this area, the change wont take effect until you scroll down and click the "Save page" button at the bottom of the Settings tab. Similarly, in this area you can select from a drop-down menu who can view the page - anyone, people who are logged in, members, control panel users, or admins. Again, you'll need to click the "Save page" button for any selection in this drop-down menu to take effect.
It is also possible to change who can see your entire website. This is a useful feature when you're developing a new site and want to share the content with a limited number of people. You can adjust this setting from Site settings.
It sounds like you changed the status without clicking the yellow "Save page" button at the bottom of the Settings area. Clicking the Publish button at the top of a page does the same thing as changing the status of the page to "published" and clicking that 'Save page' button.
