I want to add my next election date to my nation so that donations are attributed to the correct election period (primary/general) with the current cycle. How would I go about that?
1. Make sure that you have the free voter addon enabled on your nation under Settings > Defaults:
2. Go to Settings > Political > Elections, and add the details of your primary election, along with it's individual contribution limit (per election), and click Save election. Then do the same for your general election:
3. Go to Settings > Political > Settings, and select your current election period under Next election. Enter the total contribution limit (per person) under Donation maximum per cycle. Click Save settings:
Once that's done, NationBuilder will automatically split donations above the contribution limit for your current election period, and attribute the remainder to the following election period. This can simplify campaign finance reporting. More on donation splitting.
