Going Live with my own URL

I want to have my existing URL (mysite.com) bring up the mysite.nationbuilder.com that I've built, making sure to optimize for SEO and also so mysite.com is displayed in the address bar, with no drawbacks whatsoever. What do I need to do?

Read our FAQ on connecting your custom domain to a site on your nation.

Once you're ready to begin the process, be sure you complete all steps in the instructions. There are three main aspects to connecting your custom domain to your nation:

  1. pointing the name servers to NationBuilder
  2. connecting the domain to your nation in Settings > Domains
  3. connecting a site in your nation to your domain in Pages > [Site Name] > Settings > Custom Domains

All pages within your site will use your custom domain (so mysite.com will display in the address bar) except for login and donation pages. Since those pages require SSL certificates, they will display as https://nationslug.nationbuilder.com

The default setting for all sites in a nation is to Allow search engines to index the site. This setting is found in Pages > [Site Name] > Settings. As long as that box is checked, search engines will find your site and the pages on your site.

Learn how to use the SEO tools built into NationBuilder in this how-to video.
