By I want to display the blog headlines from the blog page on my home page similarly to the way feedburner does. Is this possible, though slightly redundant?

If this is a blog within the same nation, there is a better way to do that using liquid to display content from one page on another.
If this is a blog on a separate website, it is also possible to do that and you can find different options by searching around. Here is one tool for example, Feed2JavaScript.
