Deleting "participate" block from Victory theme

I am having trouble deleting the large "participate" block on the homepage template for the Victory theme. Anyone know how to do it?

Hello Kevin,

Joel is correct. If you want to edit a stock theme, you must first be using a custom version of it. You can read more about creating a custom theme (and cloning your existing theme, here) Then, you can go to Websites > Theme > layout.html file to remove the "participate" section from your layout.

Hey Tracey, the participate box starts in line 112 of the layout.html file of this theme with <div class=“participate”> . The box consists of two components, the top content and the bottom content ( where a person inserts their email.) Hope that clears things up!

I edited line 80 to 151, but not my sidebar has messed up. What lines should be deleted just for the Participate removal?

You can create a new custom them, making sure to select “clone your current theme” (not to mention being sure to have Victory as your current theme). Then simply edit layout.html. You’ll find the block starting on line 80.
