Customizing Donate Page Layout

I would like to customize the layout of donate pages:

1. Change from a two column form to a one column form. Usability studies have shown it is easier for a user to complete a form when it is in a single column.

2. Add a sidebar that would contain information such as who to contact with questions and how the information gathered is used. In my 17 years as a user experience architect, I've found displaying such information at the point of transaction dramatically increases conversion rates.

Hello Edwin, it is easy to customize your donation form with knowledge of HTML and CSS. To make edits to the donation page template, you can go to Websites > Theme and find the theme template: pages_show_donation_wide.html.

You can read more about how themes work in our NationBuilder Theme Documentation. Alternatively, you may be interested in seeking help from a certified consultant.

Additionally, recent usability studies have shown that what increases conversions is a single page donation form. e.g. not sending the user to another page to fill in additional information. The effectiveness of one column versus two columns varies by the type of organization and user. What most tests reveal is that no single approach works on every donation form. With NationBuilder, you have the ability to easily create multiple donation forms and track donations under each - you may be interested in doing testing on multiple donation layouts to better understand what your audience is responsive to.

Thanks.
