TendLab -- Marketing Director & Community Manager

Posted

At TendLab, we are building a movement to harness the power of parents at work. Amy Henderson is the leader galvanizing our community to take action. Through decades of research, and neuroscience-based training, Amy has learned that the way careers and being a parent interact today is fundamentally broken. 2020 has proven that we can no longer ignore this problem - the compounding crises our nation faces have cracked open a unique opportunity to radically change the system. Today, most parents in America are facing crippling challenges, but we believe it doesn’t have to be this way. Now is the time to take a stand for parenthood -- supporting parents is good for everyone, especially in our workplaces. We are raising our hands and stepping up to be changemakers.

In service of this movement, Amy is publishing a book: Tending: Parenthood & The Future of Work. Despite the significant bias both moms and engaged dads are likely to face at work, Amy’s book reveals how modern leaders need the skills parenthood unlocks. With her team at TendLab, Amy is also launching an engagement strategy rooted in the book’s content, in order to propel the movement and utilize the power of community for collective action. We are looking for an engaged, experienced leader and doer to create and run our marketing strategies, as well as manage and cultivate an active online community. This role is part-time (20 hrs/week) to start, with very flexible hours and competitive pay.

What You’ll Do

  • Cultivate and manage an active online community at (the soon to launch) amyhenderson.org.
  • Develop and implement a robust social media strategy (for both amyhenderson.org and tendlab.com) that includes working with Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, and any other relevant platforms.
  • Create and manage a series of book launch events with our partners (founders, leaders, and brands).
  • Utilize Facebook Manager to cultivate a national community of readers who will form regionally-based “reading circles” to discuss the content of the book.
  • Work with our software, Nationbuilder, to track, monitor, and engage our community (if you don’t yet know how to work with Nationbuilder, that’s okay, we can train you!).
  • Play a critical role in ‘voicing’ our brand by creating and/or editing all of the content we publish — including our newsletters, blogs, articles in magazines & newspapers, press releases, and more.
  • Create a portfolio of, and build relationships with, press contacts who are interested in publishing content related to the book and the movement — and work with Amy and her team to pitch pieces.
  • Build out a database of conferences/events and summits where Amy and her team should be featured speakers, and work to secure spots at these upcoming events.

Who You Are (and who we are, too)

  • You are passionate: You are enthusiastic about our mission and the movement.
  • You are collaborative: You believe in the power of the collective and look for ways to partner with and give back to others.
  • You are nimble: You can juggle priorities and tasks without dropping the ball (most of the time).
  • You are vulnerable: You are able to admit mistakes, learn from them, and try again.
  • You are creative: You take chances, think boldly, and take chances on new ideas.
  • You are a self-starter: You value curiosity, empathy, and persistence. You get the job done.
