Email Template Engine
I would love an updated Email Template WYSIWYG engine. The preview window is way too narrow, and bears only a passing resemblance to what the email actually looks like once you receive it.
Permission Levels
We are working with several campaigns, and permission levels are becoming an issue.
I would like the ability to have granular permission control over features and fields, as well as the ability to create more user types, so that we can allow/restrict access where needed.
Right now, even interns have the ability to import and export data, which will greatly limit the number of people that the candidates allow to access to the system.
Official response from Jim Gilliam consideringWe will be restricting access to staffers and above for importing/exporting data, that is a very good idea.
If you can flesh out in more detail what features you do not want different levels to be able to do, I will definitely look at those.
We don't intend to have additional user types or let you choose which features are permissible for additional user types because we've found that to get really confusing for people very quickly.
Clone Site
Creating and sharing custom themes is nice, but I really want to be able to clone a complete site that we have created (Theme, Templates, Pages, Images, etc). This would speed development of new client sites more than anything else I can think of.
Put up a real forum
It would be great if there was a real forum on this site.
Official response from Lilia VillaNationBuilder routes all support interactions and discussions through topical suggestion boxes.
Call Center/List
It would be great to allow volunteers to login and make phone calls from lists, with multiple people calling off the same list at the same time. Developing this internally would certainly be non trivail.
Callfire.com is a system that has already been done correctly, and they have an API. Here is a link to their API info, http://www.callfire.com/dialer/cm/custom_telephony.html
Permissions for Designers
I would like to limit access via permissions to the Theme and templating system. Once a campaign is launched, I do not think that anyone should have access other than the admin and possibly staffers to modify the theme or code on the pages.
I would really like you to create a new user level that just has access to “Pages” , and everything under that heading. I do not want to allow the person that is creating the theme, access to anything but that, since they are not really part of our campaign team. They are a hired person or firm that is just doing the template.
Upload Theme Files
When editing files in the online system, it takes way to long to make the changes and save them. With css and html files that I have uploaded, I make the changes in my desktop editor (instead of in the online editor), and then upload them again, which only takes a few seconds. This is only possible with the files I upload, however, and not with theme files such as layout.html and theme.scss.
I would like the option to upload files such as theme.scss and layout.html, so that I can do my editing on my desktop. I have tried editing on the desktop, and then pasting the file into the online editor, but it still takes way to long to save the files that way.
Official response from Jim Gilliam completedThis should work already. You can upload any of the templates into the files tab of a theme. It was one of the very first features added to the themes, before you could even edit them online.
Best Way to Start Over with Data?
What is the best way to start over? We want to get rid of all data, and import our data from scratch again on a nation.
Official response from Adriel Hampton completedUse a batch action to delete the records that you do not want by clicking the + sign, adding them to the shopping cart and then deleting. This screencast describes the batch action process for records in detail.
Refund Donation?
Every once in awhile, we end up with someone clicking the donate button twice, and we need to refund a donation. I cannot find any way to do that. Am I just missing it?
Official response from Lilia Villa completedHello Austin,
Refunds are something you need to handle directly with your merchant; whether it’s paypal, authorize.net etc. – NationBuilder only tracks donations, it doesn’t actually collect them.
Mobile Fundraising Integration Option
It is pretty important that there is a mobile option for fundraising. Here is link to a recent article that discusses how much more successful fundraising is when done using mobile platforms, http://politi.co/n7opz7.
An excerpt for those too lazy to click says this:
The gifts of donors who gave through a mobile device were almost twice as large as those who contributed through a computer (to Kasich's campaign).
According to online consultant Emotive, the average gift of mobile visitors' was $339 while desktop visitors' was $172.There are some great mobile platforms out there that would make this a fairly easy integration.
