adding space between header and sidebar/featured content slider

I've noticed that there is no white space or padding between the header of my site and the sidebar/featured content sliders anymore, they are adjacent now and there used to be about an inch of space. I've looked through the themes I've customized and am not sure what I did. Any idea on how I can add some space between the header and whats below it?

It looks like you added padding already. This most likely occurred due to changes I made so all the themes could support the new header and background image feature. Thanks for letting me know, I'll take a closer look.

I have custom theme – based off Aware theme. My ultimate goal is to be able to put the picture of the candidate next to the text “xyz for City Council” in the header to the left of the navigation and have a custom slider below. Thus, I want to have both a header (or some other way to do this) and a custom slider display. I saw one post that said this was not possible, but at the moment, I’ve got both loaded into the system and they’re showing but the header is actually showing below where the usual header and above the slider. I want the header image I uploaded to show in the upper left part of the header. Can you please help? I may have to change it but check tomdubois.nationabuilder.com (home page) to see what I am talking about, if it’s not changed by the time you receive this.

Marian — That white space is controlled via your theme’s CSS. Looking particularly at your site, it appears that those three columns are configured with the style element “vertical-align: middle;”. If you set their alignment to “vertical-align: top;” it should resolve the issue.

But looking at the code, it appears that the white space is being generated by the table containing the three columns… not by the header.

Please let me know if this helps you with your troubleshooting.

I added a <p> tag before the first and second column in the columns_2 custom theme and that created space, but there might be a better way?
