By I am wanting to use the FAILED auto response email that are available in memberships by attaching a membership to all current donors monthly gifts so that if they fail they will get notified. We can add it to the monthly gift donate pages to capture all new monthly donors but would also like to attach it to existing donors.

Definitely sounds like you would like to add memberships to your recurring donations. There really isn’t a feature that will natively allow you to do this. You can try to update your recurring donations via a paid memberships import (https://nationbuilder.com/how_to_import_memberships#paid) to accomplish this task but it is not guaranteed that the membership will continue to apply to future donations. We can have our Services team assist with this import if you would like, but it may be an additional cost.
