how to embed an audio file (mp3 or mp4) on nation builder...

Any help. Not so intuitive. I putting together a radio show and need to host the archived content I've made. No live streaming is needed.

Embedding music into NationBuilder is easy. Thanks to our integration with Embed.ly, embedding a a track from Soundcloud or a video from Youtube is as easy as dropping a link to it into the content of your page. You'd don't need to deal with iframes or embed codes.

1. Grab the link to the track on soundcloud that you want to embed.

2. Embed that link in your the Wysiwyg content box of your page. Make sure it's on it's own line and hasn't been formatted in anyway.

3. Enjoy your new embedded Soundcloud player!

An alternative is to embed the <iframe> in the actual template of the page, learn more about including content on your NationBuilder page here.

Katherine – we actually do not recommend embedding into an email blast – spam detectors look for things like embedded links and attachments when scanning blast emails. What we recommend is a link to a place on your website where the Soundcloud is embedded. You can even use an image of the Soundcloud player for the link so it will look like a seamless experience, it will also have the added benefit of directing people to your website!

By the way, embedding the player code in the page template gets the player to appear. But this doesn’t help if I want the player to appear in an exact location on the page.

Not helpful at all. Soundcloud gives you the player via iframe embed code. When I add the code via the content area of the page, the page displays the code not the player (even if I click on HTML and add it that way). What are the steps for embedding the Soundcloud embed code in a specific place on a page? Thanks in advance.

NationBuilder is not designed to be a storage system for large files – I think you will find a MP3 and audio file service like SoundCloud.com a great solution for storing, sorting and then embedding players for your nation.

You can upload MP3 files into the theme files directory for your nation (must have a custom theme) and link to them on the public pages. You can also use embed codes for services such as SoundCloud and BlogTalkRadio in your page templates.
