Building an email list is a key part of any organizing effort; but it's also important to regularly audit and maintain that list to ensure you're talking to people who want to hear from you. In this video, C.J. MinsterCheng talks about how to segment your email list to improve your targeting and better engage your supporters.

Some tips on how to reengage your lax email subscribers after the flip.

  • Send a separate email to people who have not been opening your emails to make sure that they still want to be on your list.
  • An even better option is to learn more about who isn't opening your emails to target them with more relevant messages. For example, you could send an email to people in a specific geographic area about events happening close to them.
  • Send an email to your most engaged supporters - those who do open your emails - recognizing them as the most important members of your community and asking them to volunteer, donate, or help get your message out through social media.
  • Recognize that not all your supporters want to hear from you via email. You can use NationBuilder Match to find their social media profiles so you can reach out to them in other ways.
