Blogging Permissions

I'd like to give a group of my people permissions to blog on my site without granting them any other permissions. How would I go about this? Thanks!

In NationBuilder, you now have complete control over which features are available to your team members with “permission sets.” While you still can't grant access only to a specific page, you have far greater control over who has access to what features (such as publishing or drafting pages) than ever before.

I would also like to see an option to authorize blog authors specifically, and a more direct way to create blog posts.

I think what we all want is to create a blog and set a staffer as author. Then for that logged in staffer to be able to hit a button saying “New Post” and create a new post on the blog. Nobody else gets the “New Post” button so the staffer gets total control of the blog but cannot do harm elsewhere. Also they don’t have to wade through the control panel which is fine for me but not them.

Unlikely to add it? Man, that really makes this NOT the choice for many of my perspective clients. NationBuilder is a really great tool, but I need to create a list of things that NationBuilder can not do so that way I know where I need to be going from now on.

Neal, we currently don’t support page-specific permissions and are unlikely to add it. We do allow user-submitted blogs, but that is not set to a specific permission level. I have the user-submitted feature turned on on my blog, the home page at www.wiredtoshare.com, and have had no problems with it. On another nation, I used an official blog and a community blog to allow user submissions.

If you want to pre-screen submissions, you can use a feedback page type and then post the entries as new blogs. You could also create and set a membership level for the people you want to be bloggers, create a members-only page for user-submitted blogs, then change the parent/subpage (from the members-only page to a public blog) for entries you approve.
