“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.”

That quote is attributed to Margaret Mead, and it speaks to me because organizing is a huge part of what I’m about. It’s also one of the main pillars of my career, along with technology, and driving change within the legal immigration system.

So knowing that, you can imagine how excited I am to be attending Netroots Nation this year. Since organizing, storytelling, and relationships are at the core of NationBuilder, the team and I have lined up a series of events both during and after conference days.

Take a look, join in, have some fun:

  • Meet the NationBuilder Netroots Scholars: We’ve awarded 10 scholarships to young adults eager to learn about organizing. They will be at our events and also letting the Netroots community about the work we do at NationBuilder.

  • Master Class: Train up on the latest, best, and most impactful parts of NationBuilder. Become an online/offline organizing wizard, and get a sneak peak at one of the most important product updates we’ve released in the past year. The awesome Robin Alberts-Marigza and Mike Moschella will be facilitating. This is going down on Saturday 7/18 at 8:30am, max space of 50 people.

  • New Tools Shootout: Hear the inside stories on how the latest tools in community organizing are being designed and built, the impact they’re already having on campaigns and organizations, and what they can do to help you become a more powerful and more effective activist and leader. The shoot-out is scheduled for Saturday 7/18 at 12pm.

Now, this is too much to organize for just myself, Robin and Mike, which is why we’ll have an all-star crew of 8 total folks out at Netroots. Take some time to connect with Paige Brice, Alex Stevens, Lindsey Keefner, Nathan Adams, and Peter Wrinch.

Also, and this is pretty cool, Netroots Nations is using the NationBuilder platform as it’s main action center for organizing during the conference. Take a look, play around with it, and explore.

So clearly there are many things happening and we know you can’t make it to everything. But that’s the beauty of organizing - it’s about serving up a variety of ways for people to come together and allowing them to find the one or many that fits for them.

I’d love to meet you during the conference and it will be even better if we connect ahead of time. You can reach me on Twitter at @vhsuarez25 and via email at [email protected].

See you at Netroots!
