How do you delete a site?

Not the main/default NB site, just a second or third site created within the NB dashboard.

Within your Control Panel, navigate to Websites > Site Settings > Basic for the specific site you'd like to delete. In the bottom right corner of this page, you should see a 'Delete Site' button. Press the button and confirm the pop-up box, and the site will be deleted.

Note: You must always have at least one site. If you'd like to delete your nation's only site, you'll need to first create a new one.

Additionally you cannot delete your primary site - to check your primary site go to settings > basics > primary site drop down.

Hi William – you have to make sure that the site is not your primary site (in settings > basic > primary website) if you are still having trouble please email us at [email protected]!

Got it! Go To the main navigation “Settings” tab (not settings under the website tab) >> Defaults >> Basics >> Primary site >> select site from drop down list.

You must create another site before doing this or there will be nothing to select from other than your one site on the drop down menu. (also this is silly).

Add to the note at bottom that you have to change the site to be deleted from Primary website before deleting.

I was trying to share a site with a new nation. I needed to delete the nation’s original site and make the shared site the primary one. I couldn’t find the “Delete Site” button on the original site. In spite of having created the shared site, “Settings” > “Billing and Addons” only showed 1 for “Sites Used”. Since this was a new nation I figured that the 15-day trial was affecting the additional site (which is a paid feature). I ended the free trial early and now I’m seeing 2 “Sites Used” but still no way to change which site is the primary one or delete the original. Very frustrating…

I can’t get to “Websites > Site Settings > Basic” for a specific site because when I click on the link for the site I want to delete I get the pipes broken error page.

To delete a site – make sure it’s not listed as the PRIMARY website under “Settings” > Billing and Addons – Primary sites can not be deleted.

I think you cannot delete the original site that was set up. I see the “delete button” on my second and third sites, but it is not present on the first site that was created.

Tom — I just updated the response. We redesigned our Control Panel a few months ago, and in the process changed the button from red to white (pictured above). Looks like the answer here slipped through the cracks, so thanks for bringing it to my attention!
