Featured content slider -- where is class="slides_control" code coming from?

I understand that the code responsible for content slider is found in _features.html. Nowhere in that file is there a class called "slides_control". I've done a search on all the theme files for "slides_control" but have found nothing. But when I do inspect element in browser I see "slides_control". When I view source in browser I do not see it anymore.

Can someone please tell me where this mysterious code is coming from?

Featured content sliders are enabled using SlideJS. There is documentation on their website and customizing it requires knowledge of javascript. Jesse explained how to slow down the speed of slides in response to another question. The same logic can be used to add other code for the content sliders.
