Is there a type of page which would allow my supporters to join, and affiliate and connect with other supporters who might live near them? Similar to the MyBO feature of the Obama campaign, where people could create online communities with supporters in their area, and organize around them?

The sort of self-organizing functionality you're describing is absolutely something we're considering for the future, but it's not currently a feature of NationBuilder.
That said, NationBuilder does have a robust "find your friends" functionality that allows your supports to see who within their social network has already opted into your oragnization. You can see that in action, here: nationbuilder.com/friends
