I have a client who has invested in a wordpress site that they want to maintain. They want me to move their database, message broadcasting, and event management to NB. What's the best way to do this?
Setup a sub-domain of their current site that references NB content? Use redirects from pages on their site? Something else?
In the future, they might move their entire web presence to NB but they are not ready to do that for a while.
Suggestions?
Other users have used both methods for linking their nation to an existing site, it really depends on how you want it to work. If you want everything to be primarily through the existing site, then you can set up individual links or redirects to specific pages on the nation. If you'd rather have a single link for people to go through if they want to take action, then you can set the nation up on a subdomain of the main site. Using one doesn't preclude the other, so you can use both methods if you'd like.

I am still considering other options though. What do folks think of using iframes to embed NB components into the word press site. Seems like that could get complicated and uses outmoded technology.
And another alternative : what about using PHP’s cURL library to scrape content off the NB and present it on the word press site. That also seems complicated but given word press is built on php it might work the best?
I wish I could just convince them to move their net presence to NB since it feels like having a foot in both worlds is less than optimal.

I did what you are talking about on the California Green Party website: http://www.cagreens.org/ It’s a big site running on drupal. But the Donate and Volunteer buttons on the sidebar go to a NationBuilder subdomain. Everything looks the same and the nav all links back to their respective pages on the main site, so for an end user, they don’t even know they’ve left the main site.
I did this for them about a year ago and they have had nothing but success with this approach.
Good luck!
