Code Nation -- Growth Manager (UK/Europe)

Posted 2024-04-08 14:32:53 -0700

Code Nation is an award-winning Australian creative agency, building websites and digital tools for progressive campaign organisations around the world. Our clients range from major political parties to community independents, and non-profits advocating for climate action, indigenous rights, and economic justice. See some examples of our work here.

We are expanding our operations in the UK/Europe (which currently includes several major projects), and are looking for an ambitious and enterprising Growth Manager to scale and manage our European client base.

We help progressive campaigners to achieve important change, by:

  • Designing and developing stylish and powerful campaign websites, primarily on the NationBuilder organising platform
  • Providing ongoing technical training and support to level-up their digital operations
  • Developing innovative campaigning tools such as ready-to-deploy website themes (like our Candidate theme), the SupporterBase community organising tool, and the FormJoy custom form builder.

This work is powered by our tight-knit team of 12, which includes designers, backend and frontend developers, and growth and operations staff. We are purpose-driven, fast-growing and ambitious, but also foster a laid-back, supportive, and collegiate culture. We strive to take our mission seriously, but not ourselves!

Position

The Growth Manager will lead our UK/European operations, and will represent Code Nation to current and potential clients in the region. In particular, you will:

  • Proactively grow our client base in the UK and Europe:
    • Conduct market research to identify the size, makeup and characteristics of our target audience in the UK/Europe
    • Grow our client funnel, through outbound marketing to potential clients
    • Run scoping and pitching meetings with prospective clients to understand their needs, and help design effective and cost-efficient solutions
    • Attend events and conferences to promote our services as an agency
    • Maintain our relationship with NationBuilder, the platform on which we build most of our websites, and who refer us regularly to potential clients
  • Ensure the satisfaction and success of our existing European clients:
    • Ensure fast and effective communication with clients, by acting as a conduit between them and our development team
    • Follow-up with clients to ensure they’re satisfied, and run regular check-ins
    • Manage invoicing and contracts
  • Provide excellent customer support (to new and existing clients):
    • Respond to customer support requests, triage and solve where possible, communicate to the development team along with indication of urgency, etc.
    • Grow your familiarity with NationBuilder and our themes and products, to increasingly solve common client issues (e.g. editing site content, filtering their supporter database, etc.)
    • Gain experience with our processes in order to pre-empt and prevent issues in client communication (e.g. confirming scope of request before passing on to development team, requesting required logins, etc.)
  • Location: London preferred, but open to remote, within 2 hours of GMT
  • Contract: One-year contract, with desire to extend
  • Hours: We are open to a full-time or part-time (30+ hours/week) role
  • Leave: 20 days’ annual leave + public holidays, plus sick leave
  • You will report to our Managing Director, with support from our Growth Manager (Aus/NZ) and our Director of Frontend Development.

Qualifications

Our dream profile is below. If you match most of these characteristics then we’d love to hear from you!

  • An early-mid career professional (3-7 years experience)
  • With some experience in one or more of these roles (in order of preference):
    • Campaigning/organising for an NGO, MP, etc.
    • Outbound marketing and sales
    • Client account management and customer success
  • Very comfortable working independently, and developing and testing your own best-practice approaches
    • We will train and support you on our tools and processes, but as the first person in this role, you will be confident generating and piloting our European growth strategy
    • You will be managed remotely from Australia, and though we will ensure some work hours overlap, you will also be comfortable working asynchronously from the team
  • Flexible, and eager to learn new skills and grow your role over time
    • We hope to grow our European operations meaningfully in the next few years, and see opportunities for this role to grow and change in ways that are hard to predict today.
    • We’re looking for someone who is up for this journey, and willing to help define their role over time
  • Passionate about supporting our clients to create a more progressive society, which promotes equality, democracy and protection of the natural environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, able to draw out the technical needs of our clients and communicate between them and the development team effectively.
  • Experience with the NationBuilder platform is an advantage, though not required
  • French language fluency is a bonus, though not required
