Right now I'm working on a Campaign which is fundraising to pay off debts from the Primary Campaign. We are currently in the General Election period, but I was wondering if it is possible to create a donate page that will code donations as 2012 Primary rather than the current election cycle 2012 General.

That's a great question. Currently, it's not possible to specify the Election Period for a given donation page; donations are always applied to the current period.
More broadly, NationBuilder is not designed to be a fully-featured financial compliance tool. If you need to apply certain donations to a prior election period, etc., you can export your donation history and import it into your preferred compliance software.
