Help! I'm trying to move a line up closer to another line and it keeps either going all the way up or creating a big space --- I just want one line down.

Good news! It's an easy trick -- just hold down 'shift' when you are holding down 'return' and you will be just one line down.
So this is two
Lines down
and this time I'm holding shift
and it's one line down
