Social_Media_Week.jpegAs part of Social Media Week starting Monday, NationBuilder social media experts will be speaking at several events in Los Angeles throughout the week. 

In a seminar for nonprofits on Monday, NationBuilder organizer Julie Niemi will be sharing her knowledge of how nonprofit professionals can use social media to engage existing supporters, find new ones and fundraise. The seminar will also feature Education Manager Julie Truong from The Center for Nonprofit Management and Filiberto Gonzalez, Founder & CEO of Impact Consulting. 

On Tuesday, NationBuilder Founder and CEO Jim Gilliam will be participating in a panel discussion at The Hub LA on how community-based organizations use social media to empower their communities and create lasting change. Jim will be joined by Liberty Hill Communications Director and moderator Barbara Osborn, Jung Hee Choi of The Community Coalition, Carmen Gonzalez of Voz Mobiles, and Shivani Siroya, CEO of Inventure.

Jason Meer, an experienced digital communications specialist who served as new media director for Maryland General Assembly delegate Heather Mizeur before joining NationBuilder, will speak at "We the People of Social Media," a full day of social media training for political candidates on Friday. Other event speakers include former Obama campaign and DNC new media director Natalie Foster and Alex Torpey, the young mayor and early NationBuilder campaigner dubbed "The Social Media Mayor" by Inc. magazine.
