Your best bet for now would be to make sure that people who sign each petition get a corresponding tag so that you can import that tag with your CSV of offline signatures. They won’t show up as petition signers underneath the page, but you will be able to segment them later because of the tag.

Hello NB Team – I’m an ED with a growing nonprofit org, and I really like NationBuilder BUT the fact that we are unable to import an excel/csv list directly into a petition and the general database is very surprising. I would be very useful. Right now, we are gathering signatures online and by canvassing – we have 97 signatures online and nearly 400 on paper. Not all of our canvassers have access to the system right now, or would know how to add people to NB – but they are adding them to Excel spreadsheet. it would save a lot of time and energy if I could just import that list to the database, and somehow indicated that they have all signed a specific petitions – perhaps tagging them all? but in a batch?

This is something that would be very helpful for us as well. It takes a really long time to export people’s information and then re-enter them. We do a lot of petitions both online and on paper and the ones on paper are then tagged. This means that I have to enter all of them twice when it seems like it might be possible to add people from a list or who have tags to the petition so that it also shows accurate numbers on the petition site.

Yes, this would be very useful. But, if only people can be imported, with tags, and you give them the same tag as they get for signing a petition, doesn’t that automatically make them a signer? Otherwise, how would they get that tag?

We (liberal art) built a tool within NB for the Yes Campaign to allow users to upload signatures collected offline into a petition page. It’s a bit of a hack and meant more for street teams to manually add small batches not a full file upload but works to capture offline action.
