How do I turn ON sidebar on donate page?

The "Show Sidebar" box in my Donate Page settings is grayed out and I can't turn on the sidebar.

Any ideas?

    For those of you that have run into this problem, the short answer is that you can’t turn on the sidebar on any page that accepts payment. The reason why is because it is considered a “best practice” to not distract people who are about to donate to your cause with a bunch of links.

    The reason why is technical. I’m pretty new to this CMS but my understanding is that I am limited to three templates: 1-column, 2-column, splash page. So, I used the 1-column layout for the home page that included a huge, colorful background image overlayed with three callout boxes. That layout will not work with the donate or other call to action pages. You end up with a form that you can’t read.

    While having fewer links on the page is probably a “best practice” it seems strange that it would be mandatory. And the fact that that feature it isn’t documented means that I spent a bunch of time designing a page that will not work.

    I guess I could use the Splash page for my big background and then have a separate home page but that’s not really what I was going for.

    Another solution would be to have a forth template option for the home page but I’ve already redesigned the home page to work with the system.

    I guess my first question would be “Why do you want to?” If you have someone on your donate page why would you want to make it easy for them to navigate away?
