Suggest a feature for NationBuilder

We are constantly adding, refining and even removing features. This is the best place to make your voice heard on what you'd like to see. You can also suggest new support documentation you'd like to see.

Didn't find what you're looking for in the search box above? Add a suggestion.

Filter out auto-replies

When a broadcaster is set up to receive email and also used as the sender of an email blast, it'll end up with lots of automatic replies sent from people's autoresponders, which again will each trigger a follow-up for incoming email.

As people also reply to our emails with actual enquiries, it wouldn't make sense to turn the follow-up off.

Is there any way your system could figure out if an incoming email is an auto-reply or not, and act accordingly...?

Tracking which lists are people on

Would be great if there was a tab to track which lists different supporters/prospects were on?

Also with a little (+) or (-) next to each tab to remove them from a list if you want.

I'm shuffling people between events (one per list) and it would be good to have a single place to do this, rather than having to go through each list.

Thanks!

Ability to Move Blog Entries

I have found that I could use the blog feature for other things as well besides making a blog. The only issue is I can't move the entries around to suit say...making an instruction page that goes step by step because I would have to make a point to create the first step last in order for the numbers to go in order. Having the ability to move entries could open the door for giving this feature all types of functions and uses.

Quiz or Test Feature

It would be nice to have a quiz or test feature. Preferably where answers are given after the person is done taking the test so they can see how they did. It would nice to also have an option to see how there score compared with others who took the test as well.

For those in politics this is a great way to see if people really understand you and your platforms.

For organizations it is a great way to train volunteers on precedures.

Default From address when replying to incoming mails

When hitting 'reply' to an incoming email shown in the stream, it is easy to overlook that the From address isn't necessarily set to the broadcaster to whom the incoming mail was addressed, which may cause a lot of confusion at the receipient's end. Would it be possible to always default to the broadcaster who was originally addressed?

Also, would it be possible to send our replies from "Broadcaster Name" <broadcastername@domain> rather than just broadcastername@domain?

Thanks for making it happen. :-)

Email "drip" campaigns - scheduled communications in series

Capacity for Nationbuilders to set a series of communications to our tribes, ahead of time. For example: a welcome/orientation series for new members; an educational series for existing members; an invitation to volunteer or serve in leadership, and if they opt in there, scheduled followups. Many organizations have a pattern of communications, and being able to set up these protocols ahead of time, so that they arrive timely, would be awesome.

Wireframe templates

It would be great if you had PSD / AI wireframe templates for each major page (with all relevant elements) to make planning a website easy.

Add signature to individual emails sent from dashboard

Would it be possible to take the standard email signature used for mass blasts and add it to those individual emails sent via a person's dashboard?

Tracking Thank-You Letters

It would be helpful to be able to track thank-yous associated with specific donations.  Perhaps in each donation record, there is a checkbox for thank-you or tag that would give the date for when a thank-you was sent.  Just an idea, but I've seen it in other systems where you write the body of the email in one area of the website which then merges into a letter where you could print thank-yous for all recent donations en masse.

Official response from Adriel Hampton completed

Rebecca, this is a great comment. The easiest way to do this in NationBuilder is to create a new contact type under Settings > Defaults > Contact types for thank you letters. You can then use followups and advanced search to make sure that you get each donor a thank you letter. On your donation page Donation settings, check the box "mark donor as needing followup" (this is new). Choose your "thank you letter" contact type. You can then use the followup view in your control panel to see everyone who still needs a followup. Then when you contact them, mark off the contact.

Email verification needed on forms

Can you add an email verification field - so they have to type it twice and they must match? We have people who routinely mis-type their email address when they sign up, so we then cannot communicate with them properly. An email verification field (where they have to type their email a second time and it must match the first) would solve the problem.

Make it easy to remove breadcrumbs (sub-nav menu)

I find many people don't need these breadcrumb links on thier sub-pages. There should be away to easily remove them site-wide in Pages> Settings, so folks don't have to go into the template.

Searches with middle name

When I search using first, middle, and last name in order to differentiate from more common name combinations, the person I'm looking for doesn't come up, even if he or she has a middle name listed. When I delete the middle name, the person comes up, but it may be in a list of several people who I have look through their address information to verify which one is the correct person.

My question is will it be possible at some point to search with the middle name as part of the query in order to find specific people?

Drop Down Menus for Online Payments

We are a non-profit and host conferences throughout the year.  When guests register, they need choose which break out session they want to attend by using a drop down menu (PayPal has this feature).  Currently, NationBuilder does not offer this, but it would be so nice.  If I use the PayPal html code, I can't track the payments via the website; I have to track through PayPal and enter it manually, which is time consuming.

Site wide FB thumbnail image

Right now, if you're blogging a lot you have to remember to go in and upload a FB thumbnail image for every post, otherwise when a new blog post gets shared on FB it will appear without an image.

If your site has a logo uploaded, this serves as the defaul FB thumbnail image for new pages. Default FB thumb should be different from site logo; at the very least this should be explained in Pages>Settings>Logo.

Stripe Payment Gateway

It would be great to have this implemented https://stripe.com/ .

Official response from Gavin DeSchutter not planned

We have no plans at this time to integrate Stripe. Democracy Engine is a popular choice for many of our customers and is fully integrated with NationBuilder and also provides its own web service for a very reasonable price. See http://nationbuilder.com/how_much_does_nationbuilder_charge_for_donation_processing for more detailed information on payment processors that we support.

Automatic Email blasts from posts

It would be awesome to have "creating a blog entry" and "sending out an email blast" to be one step instead of 2 -- it would be great if you could select certain blog entries to be sent out to a select list of people without the extra effort - it would save a lot of time.

Multiple broadcaster email analytics view

If I'm running an email campaign and sending several emails over a span of time from multiple broadcasters, I don't want to have to go into each individual broadcaster one at a time to see the email analytics for the whole campaign. There should be a "view emails from multiple broadcasters" check box or filter when looking at email analytics.

Sending Email Blast needs to have a confirmation step

I accidentally sent a blast out to folks with one accidental click of the send button. Could you add a confirmation window to the interface to confirm: "Are you sure you're ready to send this email blast?"

Allow advanced search by number of events attended

For those of us using NationBuilder for volunteer coordination, we'll have lots of events that users may attend regularly, occasionally, once, or not at all. Only being able to use Advanced Search to tell if someone has or has not ever attended an event doesn't allow us to separate the three first (and most valuable) of those groups.

I'd love to see the ability to search by frequency of attendence. If this could be parsed by date as well it would be even more valuable.
