Suggest a feature for NationBuilder

We are constantly adding, refining and even removing features. This is the best place to make your voice heard on what you'd like to see. You can also suggest new support documentation you'd like to see.

Didn't find what you're looking for in the search box above? Add a suggestion.

Email verification needed on forms

Can you add an email verification field - so they have to type it twice and they must match? We have people who routinely mis-type their email address when they sign up, so we then cannot communicate with them properly. An email verification field (where they have to type their email a second time and it must match the first) would solve the problem.

Make it easy to remove breadcrumbs (sub-nav menu)

I find many people don't need these breadcrumb links on thier sub-pages. There should be away to easily remove them site-wide in Pages> Settings, so folks don't have to go into the template.

Searches with middle name

When I search using first, middle, and last name in order to differentiate from more common name combinations, the person I'm looking for doesn't come up, even if he or she has a middle name listed. When I delete the middle name, the person comes up, but it may be in a list of several people who I have look through their address information to verify which one is the correct person.

My question is will it be possible at some point to search with the middle name as part of the query in order to find specific people?

Drop Down Menus for Online Payments

We are a non-profit and host conferences throughout the year.  When guests register, they need choose which break out session they want to attend by using a drop down menu (PayPal has this feature).  Currently, NationBuilder does not offer this, but it would be so nice.  If I use the PayPal html code, I can't track the payments via the website; I have to track through PayPal and enter it manually, which is time consuming.

Site wide FB thumbnail image

Right now, if you're blogging a lot you have to remember to go in and upload a FB thumbnail image for every post, otherwise when a new blog post gets shared on FB it will appear without an image.

If your site has a logo uploaded, this serves as the defaul FB thumbnail image for new pages. Default FB thumb should be different from site logo; at the very least this should be explained in Pages>Settings>Logo.

Stripe Payment Gateway

It would be great to have this implemented https://stripe.com/ .

Official response from Gavin DeSchutter not planned

We have no plans at this time to integrate Stripe. Democracy Engine is a popular choice for many of our customers and is fully integrated with NationBuilder and also provides its own web service for a very reasonable price. See http://nationbuilder.com/how_much_does_nationbuilder_charge_for_donation_processing for more detailed information on payment processors that we support.

Automatic Email blasts from posts

It would be awesome to have "creating a blog entry" and "sending out an email blast" to be one step instead of 2 -- it would be great if you could select certain blog entries to be sent out to a select list of people without the extra effort - it would save a lot of time.

Multiple broadcaster email analytics view

If I'm running an email campaign and sending several emails over a span of time from multiple broadcasters, I don't want to have to go into each individual broadcaster one at a time to see the email analytics for the whole campaign. There should be a "view emails from multiple broadcasters" check box or filter when looking at email analytics.

Sending Email Blast needs to have a confirmation step

I accidentally sent a blast out to folks with one accidental click of the send button. Could you add a confirmation window to the interface to confirm: "Are you sure you're ready to send this email blast?"

Allow advanced search by number of events attended

For those of us using NationBuilder for volunteer coordination, we'll have lots of events that users may attend regularly, occasionally, once, or not at all. Only being able to use Advanced Search to tell if someone has or has not ever attended an event doesn't allow us to separate the three first (and most valuable) of those groups.

I'd love to see the ability to search by frequency of attendence. If this could be parsed by date as well it would be even more valuable.

"Global" image library

It would be helpful if all images were available once uploaded, to be inserted throughout the site.
I either have to re-upload the image, or remember where I uploaded it so that I can reference the URL.
This is time consuming...and seems unnecessary.

Field selection for exports

Whether exporting donations or people, NationBuilder always exports every field available. 99% of the time this is more than you need. We need some kind of pre-export tool that allows us to check off fields, or just a few different types of exports like "contact info. only" "address only" "fundraiser" and "full".

Multiple parties when building Lists.

I would like to be able to an advance search based on more than one party, for instance unenrolled and party X  or  Independent and Party Y.

Literature Drop Walk Sheet

I'd like to suggest a "Literature Drop" walk sheet.  If conducting a Lit Drop, I need minimal information and no duplicates. If I'm just hanging stuff on the front door, then I need the raw data with little to know formatting.  Right now, I'm creating my walk list using the turf cutter, then I'm exporting the data to excel. Removing everything but the Street Number and Street Address, then I de-dup that list, sort by Street Name then Street Number. In a perfect world, I'd have by two columns on the same sheet Left column even numbers and the right being odd.

Thoughts?

Enable spellcheck in the WYSIWYG editor

The Chrome spellcheck doesn't work in the WYSIWYG for likely technical reasons, but it's a pain to have to alway use an external editor in order to make sure that simple spelling mistakes aren't present. Hopefully some kind of solution can be developed.

API for pushing data to NationBuilder

This has been much in demand and discussed in the FAQ, and we've heard various promises about its implementation.

An API to push external signups to would be essential to us. Given how keen NationBuilder has been to have everything filed as an official feature request, here you go! :-)

Ladies and Gentlemen, please vote...

Back end sorting of events by date

For events, I want to be able to sort by date on the backend, to help me find records.  So would like to be able to sort on the “when” field…but probably for any of the fields, envisioning other scenarios.

Language Drop-down

There is no such language as "Chinese". Is it possible to change it to "Mandarine" and "Cantonese"?

Adding GoogleMaps to the front end.

Already having GoogleMaps integrated into the sites back-end, it would be nice to have the ability to bring some of those maps the the front. I have a client that would like to have a map on their front page, listing his clients on a map, that people are able to interact and find these people. Having it on the back-end makes since for political purposes, but adding the ability to bring those maps to the front would be very lucrative for business users.
