Jim Gilliam is the Founder and CEO of NationBuilder. Previously, he co-founded Robert Greenwald's Brave New Films, building a non-profit grassroots media powerhouse of a million members. In the late 90's, he launched Business.com as its Chief Technology Officer, and worked at Lycos, one of the first internet search engines. Gilliam produced four documentaries, and was honored in 2008 with Take Back America’s second annual Maria Leavey Tribute Award. His work has been featured in publications like the New York Times, Forbes, Wired, and the Washington Post. Jim fought cancer twice, and is the enormously grateful recipient of a bone marrow transplant and a double lung transplant. Learn more about Jim.
Jesse Haff is Co-Founder and Lead Designer of NationBuilder. He's designed some of the most memorable and successful online activist websites including Sick for Profit, Michael Moore's Slacker Uprising, Fox News Porn, and Robert Greenwald's Brave New Films. When Jesse isn't designing the hot new internet tool, he's creating music. Daylight Dies has released three critically acclaimed albums dubbed "masterful", "breathtaking" and "simply phenomenal work" by the music press. Adriel Hampton is Chief Organizer of NationBuilder. He is also the co-founder and producer of the Gov 2.0 Radio podcast, which highlights the use of emerging technologies by governments. Adriel is a frequent speaker on open government, social media, and technology innovation and is president of the San Francisco Technology Democrats. In 2009, he became the first person to announce a run for Congress through Twitter. He has more than 10,000 followers on the popular micro-blogging platform and is also manager of the popular Government 2.0 group on LinkedIn and a community leader at GovLoop, the social network for government. Adriel is a licensed California private investigator and worked for the San Francisco City Attorney's Office for six years. He continues to advise City Attorney Dennis Herrera on social media and technology innovation, and is an organizer for the monthly Third Thursdays SF civic tech meetup and for CityCamp San Francisco. Before entering government, Adriel worked as a journalist at the San Francisco Examiner, ANG Newspapers and the Lodi News-Sentinel. Learn more about Adriel.
Daniel Walmsley is the Vice President of Engineering at NationBuilder. He has been a software developer and entrepreneur for 15 years. A veteran of four technology startups, Dan was the first CTO of Purpose: an incubator for movements and campaigns powered by online tools. In this role, Dan worked with veteran strategist from Avaaz.org, MoveOn.org, GetUp.org.au and others to create new movements - most notably AllOut.org, a global LGBT campaigning organisation that grew to over half a million members in just 4 months. Prior to his campaigning work Dan developed software for the aerospace, finance, pharmaceutical and education industries while also pursuing a career in entertainment, appearing as an Internet culture commentator on numerous television shows in Australia before producing and directing his own weekly variety show, Planet Nerd.
Jacob Green is a Senior Engineer at NationBuilder. He first experienced the allure of working to improve the tools of democracy while researching the mathematical properties of preferential voting systems as an undergraduate at MIT. Building on his background in mathematics and theoretical computer science, Jacob moved to Silicon Valley to develop software at the next-generation cryptography company Voltage Security. Returning to his homeland of Southern California, he joined forces with the online display advertising powerhouse OpenX. Now at his third startup, Jacob is excited to bring his passion for product quality and technical excellence to 3dna and its mission of building the premier platform for the next wave of grassroots democratic leaders.
