If I need to import a donor list that includes people in the database and new people who are not can I just do it all at once via the donation import?

Hi Tracey - yes you can! As long as they have a unique identifier (email is probably your best bet) you will be good. The import page (in Finances > more > import donations) will tell you how many people were added and how many were updated.
