We'd like our https Donate page to keep our actual domain name in the URL, rather than switching to https://username.nationbuilder.com.
Is this possible?

Update 11/21/17
Today, we started the process of upgrading all existing websites with custom domains to full site SSL so that every page on your site is encrypted. This process should be complete by the end of January and - beginning February 1st, 2018 - all new custom domains will automatically have SSL enabled.
As long as your custom domain is properly configured, you don’t need to do anything! This upgrade will be seamless, free, and any links on the internet to the non-SSL pages will automatically redirect.
Update 11/01/17
We are actively working on a solution to bring SSL to all customers. We do not have a date when this will be complete but we will update here as we know more about timeline and implementation.
Update 8/17/2017
You may have received an email from Google regarding marking your NationBuilder site as not secure when users are entering their information on forms in the future. Google is addressing the issue of web security with a goal of making the entire internet more secure and this is among their first steps.
We are aware of this change and do plan to update sites in the future, however we unfortunately cannot give a timeline at this moment.
Update 4/4/2017 (from Ben Handzo)
Our goal is to provide SSL certificates to all customers on custom domains as part of their plans. Currently anyone using a {slug}.nationbuilder.com url does have SSL across their whole site.
The cost to NationBuilder is not in the acquisition of individual SSL certificates, it's in the hosting of those many certificates in a way that also protects customers from DDOS attacks, and makes their websites' content fast to access across the globe. We are working with our partners to find a solution and will keep folks updated as we make progress.
Currently we're able to offer SSL certificates for custom domains as an organization addon. If you'd like SSL for your custom domain please contact your Account Manager or call 1-213-394-4623 to have a conversation with a sales person.

So if my website is on: DomainXYZ.com and then someone clicks to donate and goes to DomainXYZ.NationBuilder.com and then makes a purchase via PayPal and are directed through the PayPal.com domain, even if you add all of these to your domain exclusion list, the purchase is still tracked as “direct/none” traffic source and/or tracked back to just the original page on the main domain, but NOT the traffic source that brought someone to that page on your domain.
Basically instead of a Traffic report saying:
Twitter
-> Blog Post ABC --> Donation Page-> PayPal—-> Thank You After DonationThe Traffic report will say:
Blog Post ABC
-> Donation Page-> PayPal—-> Thank You After DonationAnd another session with:
Twitter
-> Blog Post ABC—> Website Exit// It basically won’t stitch together the original source data and it splits it out into two sessions. Double counting sessions in google analytics … eek.
Some of us folks may not be on the enterprise plan but we’d definitely like to be using Google Analytics Advanced Ecommerce and prevent double session issues :)
Thanks for considering elevating this feature to get donate pages on our own domain so we can drop down to 2 max domains in a donation funnel for PayPal.
The Let’s Encrypt project has made SSL certificates free of charge and part of the infrastructure of the web that we ought to ‘take for granted’ in 2017.
NationBuilder, please add free SSL as soon as possible. Thanks for reading.
Interfaces which limit vocabulary (FB Like et al) force people to express themselves with the tools at their disposal. In this regard, the people checking “not helpful” are most likely trying to tell NationBuilder (not you personally!) “this answer doesn’t help me fix the problem I have”.
Your FAQ response is 100% accurate and technically the correct answer for now, but as a developer who understands encryption and privacy, it doesn’t help me deliver campaign toolkits that protect contact information, so it’s simultaneously not the right answer for NationBuilder to give.
Being obliged to choose between “don’t encrypt” and “use our brand for your URL” is an unappealing Hobson’s choice. We want to provide the combination of branding and always-on encryption, and we know it’s possible to provide an interface that would let us do just that.
Please NationBuilder, support us to protect our contacts data by default, without giving up ownership of our URLs. Implement encryption for all sites with support for custom domains.
Take a look at Cloudflare’s approach, reflect on the value you can add if you back efforts like https://www.resetthenet.org/, and let’s change the answer right here :)
Thanks!
