Exporting the email metrics would be really really helpful.

This is so critical. Not having it is one of the bit frustrations of working with NB. With other platforms I can use bit.ly to track shares. But with NB I just can’t. Very very very annoying.

A/B testing for email

Email is still the killer app for advocacy, election campaigns, and fundraising. NB needs to incorporate a way for groups who have enough people in their nation to give them statistically significant results to test different variables in their emails. NB needs to implement A/B testing for subject lines at the very least. It's becoming more and more frustrating to use NB at a high level and to leave something on the table because I'm just going with my gut, rather than being able to test various options.

The experience of the Obama campaign certainly shows that often the gut picks of seasoned campaigners performed worse than other options. I'd like to avoid that trap and maximize the impact of the people in my nation.

Official response from Adriel Hampton

It's not yet a full solution, but a few months back we introduced random list splitting, which you can use to create groups of people for testing. Find it under "Split" after selecting a specific list.

NB just published a guest blog about creating a culture of testing (http://nationbuilder.com/god_knows_why_you_click). It would be great to have this implemented, so NB can facilitate its clients following the good advice they just published.

I want a lot of stuff, but this would be gamechanging for most of the groups I work with. This and A/B testing of emails.

This is going to become even more critical as distributed organizing becomes more widespread.

I love anything that helps foster a culture of testing, including tools like Optimizely (even though you have to know your html and css to really carry this out in NationBuilder).

I would also dearly love for NationBuilder to allow A/B testing in its eblast tool, since as you nation grows the ability to get good data from your email list and its impact on your overall work also grows.

Right now I can email about 100K ppl, but I’ve got no easy way of testing anything on that list using NationBuilder. This seems like a pretty big oversight, given the centrality of email to advocacy and electoral campaigns.

The ability to clone emails was recently implemented and I’ve used it to my great delight twice now. Less work for me!

This is really a design flaw. A small one, but the kind of thing that causes unnecessary and easily fixed frustration.

This would be excellent for supporter AND list management.
