The templates allow you to change the content of auto-response emails.
How can we modify the subject line used? There are a few cases where the default subject is very inappropriate, and it's causing a lot of confusion to our users.
Official response from Kyle Sponheim
Subject lines of autoresponse emails are edited on the pages that trigger the autoresponse. The tab is called, "Autoresponse" and is generally be available within the page-specific settings of your page type.

1) If you work in multiple languages you need the ability to change the defaults so the autoresponse and the subject line are in the same language.
2) Because donation pages are appropriated for membership sales and ticket purchase checkout you need the ability to generalize the subject line to match the different action (removing donation-specific language)

This is causing us a lot of grief, as the default email subject is really poorly written. It’d be nice functionality to be able to alter these.
The subject line of the activation response email cannot be modified.

This doesn’t work for many autoresponse emails, such as the activation response (which happens to be the one I’m most concerned with right now).
