Is there a way to change my home page from a "Basic" type to a "Blog" type without having to start from scratch with a new blog page?

While it's not possible to change a page's type once it has been created, it's super easy to change which page is your homepage.
If you're worried about preserving the content / vibe of your basic page — while still including your most recent blog posts — you might consider using one of our Stock Themes that supports inclusion of your most recent blog posts on the (basic) homepage, such as Victory or Civitas.
A third option would be to work with a NationBuilder Expert or Architect to customize your current theme to display a list of the most recent blog posts on your homepage.
